Ski Vision
I’m having a hard time seeing correctly with all of the snow that we have ;) If you’re considering skiing this year, come on by and pick me up. I’m only seeing white.
Happy New Year!
The Sea
A beautiful day otherwise, the 10,000 foot Rockies block airflow, allowing a thick inversion layer to form over Utah Valley. Because of this sea-like inversion layer, we were ranked on one particular day last week, as having the worst air quality in the nation.
Despite the inversion in the valley, skiing at Sundance is amazing (where there’s nothing but great ski runs).
Hitting the Slopes
Up at Sundance Ski Resort on a beautiful Spring-like ski day. I can’t wait to see what this looks like with the new mountain bike after the snow melts!

Snowy Stewart
Water from the surrounding mountain of Sundance melts into a flowing stream. This is just next to Stewart road on the south-west side of Sundance Resort.

Aspen Grove
The morning after hiking Timp I woke up early to capture the sunrise. Looking towards Sundance Ski Resort, the sun gently came up over the horizon and lit up the whole mountain side.

(+3 more over at Flickr)
11,000 feet above sea level, here we are finally on the Saddle of Timpanogos. Below us looms Utah Valley, including Utah Lake and cities such as Nephi, Santaquin, Spanish Fork, Springville, Provo, Orem, Lindon, Pleasant Grove, American Fork, and Lehi.
The view is breathtaking in-person!

Timp Waterfalls
On a previous hike with the family up the Aspen Grove trail of Timpanogos, we hit the 1st and 2nd waterfalls which are found along the path. Pictured is the 2nd waterfall - a ton of water streaming down maybe a 25-30 foot mountain wall.
This hike is perhaps the most beautiful that I’ve been on in Utah. It’s an easy hike - just 1.2 - 1.4 miles from the Aspen Grove parking lot, making it closer than the Stewart Falls hike with 2x the beauty.

Rainbow of Light
Catching a last bit of sunshine in the Aspen Grove waterfall produced a rainbow of light flowing over the mountainside.

Falling Leaves and Changing Colors
This week the colors in the mountains have really taken a turn - bright yellow, red, orange. It’s beautiful!
On the way back home from a short drive up to Sundance Ski Resort, I caught a colored leaf floating in the river. More colored photos to come …

Moonlit Lift Ride
Throughout the non-winter months, Sundance Ski Resort has full moon lift rides, which are perfect to take the wife to on a date night. We bundled up, brought a blanket, got some hot chocolate, and ride the lift round-trip to see the moon, stars, and scenery at night.

Exploring Sundance
Early this summer, we took the kids up to Sundance Ski Resort to ride on the lift. It was a gorgeous evening, and had a blast riding together on Ray’s Lift.

Sundance Bluebird
Lately, I’ve been spending my weekend and nights on the slopes at Sundance Ski Resort. Taken with the iPhone 4S.
Sunburst on Snowstake
This weekend, we went up to Sundance Resort to enjoy the snow and views again. After coming down a run called “Snowstake” I looked back up to see the sun just coming over the ridge.
