Last Light
On a clear day looking west from the top of the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower in downtown Tokyo, you’ll see Mt Fuji. This photo was taken from my archive even though I’ve since been back. The Tokyo weather and air quality can be sometimes tricky, so you take what you can get :) This is probably one of my top 3 favorite views - I hope you like it!

Haleiwa Sunset

Fiery Sunset
Nearing the end of our trip, we had dinner with some new friends at Shark’s Cove Grill which sits across the street from Shark’s Cove and Pupukea Beach Park on the North Shore of Oahu. As I was eating my wonderful skewers I looked up, dropped my food, excused myself from the table and headed across Kamehameha Hwy with my camera. Mother nature was putting on a show that night.
Although I love the natural rays and palm trees, this shot was tough to process because of camera shake from shooting hand held (after running) and the blue cast in the left of the frame almost made me toss it completely. Anyhow - here it is. I hope you like it!

The Weekend

This photo was taken looking back on San Francisco after a business trip to company headquarters. It being late in the day, the sun has start to set, giving a golden reflection in along the bay.

Fireworks Weekend
I sure hope all of you had as great of a weekend as I did. I took Thurs & Fri off from work, and spent a few days at Bear Lake, Utah with the family. After returning Saturday night for Independence Day, we went to the Freedom Festival’s Stadium of Fire in Provo, Utah.
The Stadium of Fire takes place at BYU Cougar Stadium, known as LaVell Edwards Stadium. The place was packed, and holds 50,000 people in the stands. Headlining that night before the fireworks was Carrie Underwood, and not only was she great, but there were a ton of cowboy-boot, hat and short-shorts girls singing right along with her in the stands. I was amazed at the new fashion trend Carrie Underwood has started with that outfit.
Just after the show started at 8 pm, Mother Nature started showing off her stuff, and put up a fantastic sunset, as pictured above and below. Just check out the colors and the sun!

What a Sunset!
Happy August everyone!
I walked out of the front door this evening to be presented with a magical show from Mother Nature. The whole tone of the air was red with the colors from the sun, and when I looked up, the blue, purple, red, yellows of the sunset had filled the sky to incredible colors and saturation. Yeah - this is HDR, but believe me, these colors are what I saw - from the light blues in the horizon, to the deep and saturated tones shown.
I was in such a rush that I grabbed the wife’s wonderful D90, set it on NEF/RAW and started shooting away.

Zion Canyon
A few weekends ago we took the family down to southwestern Utah and enjoyed four days at the famous Zion National Park near Springdale, UT. I think we could have spent a year exploring all of the beauty the canyons and area provide.
This particular evening was a sunbeam sunset as the sun dipped behind the clouds and the West Temple landmark.

Aloha Sunset
A month or so back I had the opportunity to go play at Oahu’s North Shore and had a great time snorkeling. I initially was there to surf, but it was flat, and when the swell’s going, I’m not that good anyways - so it’s a hit and miss for me. Either too big or too small.
But the snorkeling, shave ice, and meetup with world famous pro photographer Sean Davey was super awesome, and I couldn’t have asked for a better day in paradise. Sean has been on my list of pros to meet, and he was kind enough to oblige. Be sure to check out his work. He shoots in cool places like Hawaii, Australia, Tahiti, and at most of the other famous surf spots around the world, but is also an amazing landscape photographer (where he actually got his start).
The above photo is over-looking Sharks Cove, one of the best places to snorkel. The area on the left is completely protected water, and a great place for families, where the area on the right goes out to the open ocean. Everytime I’m there, I see something new, and this time it was an octopus. The turtles were out and about, and of course tons of fish and the usual sea-life. Last time it was a Monk Seal and more turtles!

San Francisco Sunset
The Pacific Ocean, as it comes into the San Francisco Bay at sunset. I waited for about an hour here at the Marin Headlands, just north of the Bridge to capture the Golden Gate Bridge at night. This area offers multiple locations to photograph, and is a lovely place to visit.

Straight Shot To The City on Flickr.
Another visit to the great city of San Francisco, and I went photo hunting with a friend to attempt a few fun locations.
On the bucket list was Yerba Buena Island, looking back towards San Francisco, just over a part of the Oakland Bay Bridge.

Backcountry Sunset
This weekend I joined our local scout troop to backpack Mt. Timpanogos for an overnighter. After the sun had gone down, the colors in the sky kicked into high gear. I captured this with the “Sunset” setting on the P&S Panasonic DMC-FP1 camera.

Last Light Over the Tetons
As we headed back home from Yellowstone National Park, we took the scenic route and also stopped by Grand Teton National Park. It was a literal car-stop here and there, but the mountain range and landscape is one of my all-time favorite.
